Castanets are not just rhythm instruments used to accompany dance. When I use them as a concert instrument — concert castanets — the percussive techniques must be much more refined and sophisticated. Incidentally, this also opens up new possibilities for using castanets in dance.

Following a structured warm-up and preparation of the fingers and hands, the focus shifts to studying the extensive percussion techniques, diverse forms of castanet playing, precise rhythms and indispensable musical expression.

Questions can also be clarified and problems and difficulties with certain percussion techniques can be analysed.

Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:20 p.m. – Level: beginners with good prior knowledge
