Concert Castanets I:

Castanet parts solo for the 6 little preludes by J.S. Bach – BWV 933 to 938 – and a two-part version for advanced castanet players.

Here is an excerpt from the foreword:
After many years of intensive work with the concert castanets, I am publishing here the first volume of sheet music in the Concert Castanets series. From the large number of pieces I have already written, I have chosen for this first edition the 6 little preludes for beginners by Johann Sebastian Bach, BWV 933 to 938…
At the end of the booklet you will find a two-part version of the Prelude in D minor BWV 935 as a complete score, as well as the two individual parts. The castanet parts of these preludes are intended for good to advanced castanet players.

Concert Castanets III:

9 castanet parts to Lyrical Pieces by Edvard Grieg with virtuoso character, 8 solos and a two-part score.

Here is an excerpt from the preface:
My very esteemed teacher José de Udaeta, dancer, choreographer and castanets virtuoso, had written a ravishing castanets part to the piano piece Fairy-Dance and thus awakened my enthusiasm for the Lyrical Pieces by Edvard Grieg.
Edvard Grieg published 66 pieces for piano in 10 books, a large selection of poetic piano pieces that inspired me greatly. In Concert Castanets III you will find 8 castanet scores to selected Lyric Pieces, these include the first and last pieces in the collection, the Arietta and Remenbrances. The Canon at the end of this volume is written for 2 voices. The castanets parts are for very advanced castanets players.

Concert Castanets IV as e-book, printed version coming soon

Concert Castanets IV:

8 castanet scores solo to pieces from the two Carmen Suites by George Bizet with virtuoso character plus a two-part score.

Here is an excerpt from the foreword:
George Bizet, born in Paris in 1838, did not live to see the great success of his opera Carmen due to his early death on 3 June 1875. This opera is based on the novella of the same name by Prosper Mérimée from 1846. The premiere on 3 March 1975 at the Opéra Comique in Paris was no success, on the contrary, the audience was shocked by this free-spirited and sensual Carmen, the realistic description of the milieu, the drama and tragedy. Nevertheless, some critics and fellow composers such as Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and even Nietzsche were very convinced by this piece and they were proved right. After the premiere in Vienna in October 1875, the great success began. This opera is now one of the best known and most frequently performed in the world. The two Carmen Suites were compiled posthumously by Bizet’s friend Ernest Guiraud and adhere closely to Bizet’s orchestration. However, the order of the pieces does not follow the sequence in the opera.
I have selected 8 pieces from the 2 Carmen Suites for this volume. The Prelude from the opera Carmen consists of ‘Les Toreadors’ and the subsequent ‘Andante Moderato’. ‘Les Toreadors’ is played again in the opera as an Intermezzo to Act 4, which is why you will find a two-part version of this piece at the end of the volume in addition to the solo version.

The following volume will be available soon

Concert Castanets V:

14 castanet scores solo for beginners with little previous knowledge of castanet playing but good musical background plus a two-part pure castanet score by me.

Here is an excerpt from the foreword:
This fifth volume of the Concert Castanets series contains castanet scores for compositions by C. Sanz, J. S. Bach, L. Mozart, J. Haydn, F. Schubert, F. Chopin, E. Satie, S. Joplin, A. Khachaturian, D. Shostakovich and W. Gillock. These scores are challenging castanet scores without ‘carretillas resbaladas’ for castanet beginners with little previous knowledge but a good musical background. In addition, for this volume, I have written a two-part castanet score, i.e. a duet for concert castanets only. First the complete castanet score and then the two individual parts.
All the pieces are musically and rhythmically more demanding than pieces normally found for beginners.
